True definition of a 'hole in the wall.' We've lived in Sumter for several years and finally stopped by for takeout on the recommendation of a family member stationed at Shaw ~20 years ago. Our only mistake was not doing so sooner. This is easily the best sushi in Sumter and the surrounding area. I waited tables in a Charleston sushi restaurant all through college and so I definitely know my sushi--this was fresh fish and ingredients. The rolls were tightly rolled so they didn't fall apart. The customer service was also high-quality: My husband can't eat most sauces or masago/tobiko, but I like them--the man who took my order didn't complain when I requested all masago/sauces on the side. He also called me to say that my order was ready and explain the COVID takeout procedure. Our order was 100% correct, sauces/masago were on the side as requested and the COVID precautions are being taken seriously, which makes me (a nurse) very happy. Soy sauce came in cups, rather than packets, which makes using it for sushi so much easier. 10/10, highly recommend. We will be back!
I've heard the sushi is really good, but I've only eaten the buffet, which is probably one of my favs in Sumter. I do wish Ms. Kay still owned this restaurant . It's not the same, but they do have an excellent bar.
This place is the bomb..especially for sushi. The rolls are a great price and they are BIG! I've been meaning to do a review for months. They give military discount and deliver to base. Located on Broad St minutes from base. Everyone working there is friendly. Try it!!
